Designing for daylight

Orientation, depth and the size of openings decide how a room will feel far more reliably than any applied finish. We test these early, in section as much as in plan.

In a warm climate the goal is balance: admitting light without admitting heat. Overhangs, screens, courtyards and careful glazing ratios do most of that work before any mechanical system is considered.

The result is a building that needs less energy, looks better throughout the day, and reads clearly from the inside out.
